Hodson’s Bar & Grill – Downtown Denver

The Downtown Hodson’s is located in what was a vacant shell space on the first floor of Denver Place. As is typically the case, building out a restaurant in a downtown hi-rise comes with its share of challenges. The project required access for mechanical and electrical systems spanning from level B3 of the building’s parking garage for a new 3,000 gallon grease interceptor to the roof of the 7th floor for the kitchen exhaust fans. Jordy worked with the HVAC subcontractor to devise a system to weld, insulate, and inspect sections of grease duct on the first floor, then hoist them into place in the 7 story mechanical shaft, thus minimizing access requirements to each of the occupied floors above the restaurant. Separate projects were added during the middle of the restaurant build-out that included a substantial exterior patio and the remodel of the building’s restrooms to bring them up to ADA compliance since the existing ADA restrooms were demo’d as part of the restaurant build-out. All three of these projects were completed in a mere 14 weeks.

The finishes of the downtown Hodson’s restaurant share certain elements with The Streets at SouthGlenn location with a few upgrades thrown in for good measure. Keeping with the Hodson’s theme, there is a large bar with gorgeous slab top and multiple levels of dining room space that are accented with various millwork and wallcovering finishes. The rotisserie oven is a hold-over from the original Hodson’s, but an added feature is a built-in pizza oven surrounded by decorative glass tile walls. Parties can be held in the expansive private dining room that boasts a 65” recessed flat screen and a beautiful wine cabinet that can hold over 800 bottles.
