Jordy Construction Brings Home Bronze For New Izakaya Den Restaurant

Jordy Recognized by Industry Peers for Best Building Project

The Associated General Contractors of Colorado (AGC) awarded Jordy Construction with the bronze award for Best Building Project for its general contractor services in the construction of Denver’s one-of-a-kind Izakaya Den restaurant. The honor was awarded at the 26th ACE Awards on November 1, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Denver, held annual to award outstanding commercial construction projects in Colorado.

Jordy’s award-winning project realized the vision of restaurant and building owner Toshi Kizaki and Roth Sheppard Architects to build what has been recognized by 5280 Magazine as an architectural showpiece anchoring Denver’s Platt Park neighborhood.

The new space offers international dining and cultural features, many of which were a first for -Denver dining scene: a 50-foot retractable roof system, 25-foot tall interior bamboo plants, a glass elevator enclosure with a custom-fabricated stainless steel cab, custom Japanese millwork and Shoji Screens, onyx wall accents, and intricate metal cladding details. All were beautifully executed and incorporated into the space. To view pictures of the project, visit: http://agcace.com/entries/2013-entries/08-jordy/.

“This is a great honor for Jordy,” said Sean Wardroup, vice president of Jordy Construction. “Izakaya Den was a very successful project for Jordy and allowed us to showcase our passion, innovation and dedication that goes into each and every project we’re a part of.”

The last step of the remodel was to integrate the existing Sushi Den Kitchen with the new Izakaya Den space, remodeling the kitchen of arguably the busiest restaurant in Denver while keeping it open during construction. The Jordy team worked around the clock to design construct and deliver this phase of the job while never once shutting the restaurant down, regularly coordinating with neighborhood residents, businesses and even the farmers’ market.

Despite the challenging undertaking, Jordy successfully delivered on its reputation of top quality contractor in this ground-up building process, realizing Mr. Kizaki’s design intent to bring an elegant Japanese cultural and dining experience to the Denver community.
