Careers in Construction Month: Built by the People Behind the Work
Every building starts with a plan. Every project requires materials, schedules, budgets, and experience. But behind all of it are people.
At Jordy Construction, we believe the strength of a construction company isn’t measured only by the projects it completes. It’s also measured by the people who show up every day to make those projects possible.
October is Careers in Construction Month, and throughout the month, we want to recognize the people, careers, relationships, and experiences that make this industry what it is.
The Right Team Makes the Difference
Commercial construction is a team effort.
From preconstruction and project management to superintendents, project engineers, field teams, subcontractors, architects, owners, and trade partners, successful projects depend on people working together toward the same goal.
Having the right people in the right positions matters.
Experience matters. Communication matters. Accountability matters. But so do character, relationships, and the willingness to step up when a team member or project needs you.
At Jordy Construction, we’ve spent decades building projects throughout Colorado, but we’ve also spent those years building something just as important: a team and a culture centered around people and relationships.
That doesn’t happen overnight.
It comes from finding people who care about their work, supporting their growth, giving them opportunities, and creating an environment where people know their contribution matters.
Construction Is More Than a Job
One of the things we want to highlight this month is that there isn’t one path into construction.
Some people build their careers in the field. Others move into project management, estimating, preconstruction, leadership, or operations. Some discover construction early in life, while others find the industry after beginning somewhere completely different.
Behind every job title is also a person.
A parent.
A spouse.
A musician.
An athlete.
A mentor.
A community member.
Someone building a career while also building a life.
Those stories are an important part of who Jordy Construction is.
This Month, We’re Sharing Their Stories
Throughout Careers in Construction Month, we’re going to take you beyond the finished buildings and introduce you to more of the people behind Jordy Construction.
Through our Ask Jordy series, we’ll continue answering real questions about commercial construction and sharing knowledge from members of our team.
We’ll also begin sharing stories through Life & Construction, a series focused on something we believe deserves more attention: the lives behind the construction industry.
You’ll hear from members of our team about their careers, families, challenges, passions, goals, and the experiences that brought them to where they are today.
Because construction isn’t separate from life.
For the people who dedicate their careers to this industry, the two are often deeply connected.
Appreciating the People Who Build
Careers in Construction Month gives us an opportunity to recognize an industry we’re proud to be part of.
But more importantly, it gives us an opportunity to recognize the people who make it possible.
We appreciate the project managers coordinating countless details.
We appreciate the superintendents leading projects in the field.
We appreciate the project engineers helping keep everything moving.
We appreciate the craftspeople and laborers doing the physical work of building.
We appreciate our subcontractors and trade partners who bring their expertise to our projects.
And we appreciate the families who support the people working long days to deliver those projects.
Every person plays a role.
Building More Than Buildings
Jordy Construction has been building in Colorado since 1958.
Over those years, construction methods have changed. Technology has changed. Buildings have changed. And the industry continues to evolve.
One thing hasn’t changed:
Great construction requires great people.
As we celebrate Careers in Construction Month, we’re proud to recognize the people who have helped build Jordy Construction, the people carrying that legacy forward today, and the next generation considering a future in this industry.
This October, we invite you to follow along as we share their knowledge, their experiences, and their stories.
Because at Jordy Construction, we’re not just building projects.
We’re building relationships, careers, opportunities, and a team we’re proud to stand beside.
