Construction has begun on Izakaya Den’s new location.
Hiro & Co., doing business as Den Corner Restaurants, in collaboration with Roth Sheppard Architects and Jordy Construction, will unveil the new Izakaya Den in late May.
The restaurant will be located in the former Pearl Street Grill location at 1487-A S. Pearl St., near its current location at 1518 S. Pearl.
Roth Sheppard is designing the new restaurant, slated to feature a grand staircase, glassenclosed elevator, bamboo garden and a “signature” sushi bar on the first floor.
Jordy Construction will manage construction on the approximately 24,000-squarefoot- remodel and build-out of the restaurant, whose second level will feature a full bar, private dining areas, a summer patio and a retractable glass ceiling over the bar and seating areas, offering sky views and open air in the summer.
Izakaya Den will feature seating for 247 with an additional 34 seats on the patio.
In keeping with the spirit of the original restaurant, the new Izakaya Den will feature not only a sushi menu and global kitchen selection but also new Izakaya-style small plates, according to a release regarding the new space. The menu also will feature a wide sake selection, handcrafted cocktails, wines and local beers.
Signature design elements, including “favorite” items from the original restaurant, will be incorporated into the new Izakaya Den. These include red lacquer wall boxes, lanterns made of antique Kimono fabric, bamboo partitions, custommade chairs from Japan, sliding doors decorated in handpainted poetry and the large sushi bar made from one single piece of camphor wood along with its communal table.
