Jordy Recognized by Industry Peers for Outstanding Contribution to the Community
The Associated General Contractors of Colorado (AGC) awarded Jordy Construction with the Bronze Outstanding Contribution to the Community Award at the 26th Annual ACE Awards, for its construction of the new Asian Pacific Development Center of Colorado (APDC). The event, held November 1, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Denver, awards outstanding commercial construction projects in Colorado.
Jordy provided cost information, value engineering, and general contracting services for the APDC’s new facility on Alton Street in Denver. The project’s goal was to build an expanded, cohesive modern space that reflected serenity, calm, and beauty, a place where clients and staff would feel comfortable. Jordy and its partners at KUNG Architects transformed a vacant school into the vibrant Asian community center, completely remodeling the space and adding features such as new energy efficient windows, HVAC, ADA access and additional parking.
“It’s an honor to be recognized for our contribution to the community again this year,” said Charles Jordy, president of Jordy Construction. “Giving back to the community that supports us is a big part of our culture at Jordy and we were thrilled to support APDC through this project.”
The non-profit’s new two-story structure provides a multitude of functions while embracing Asian heritage and culture. The complex building program was divided into zones dedicated to different services, such as office space, a medical clinic, community events center, classrooms, meeting rooms and support space. Even the interior color scheme is culturally appropriate, based on the Asian theory of five elements: water, fire, wood, metal and earth.
Jordy donated $5,000 cash, as well as all pre-construction services for a year totaling approximately $25,000. Jordy was excited by the opportunity to provide its professional services to a project that also embodied its commitment to community and giving back.
